Info from Licensor: "Panic struck Veteran’s Park at 9:50 a.m. on Feb 25. A desperate call hit the Hazlet Township Police. A dog was floundering in the icy lake. Thin ice blocked the animal from shore. Patrolman Doug Centrone didn’t wait. He was on duty and ready. He’s trained with the Maritime Emergency Response Team. Centrone geared up fast. He edged across the cracking ice. He grabbed the dog, Taffy, and hoisted her up. She carefully walked back to safety. Her owner said she tripped. Taffy’s leash slipped free. The dog chased a goose onto the ice. Rescued, Taffy was bundled in blankets. She warmed up in the car. Police hailed Centrone’s bravery. He proved every rescue counts, even for a pet."
