Info from Licensor: "I conducted a strength experiment to see how much weight a glass Nutella jar could withstand. I gradually increased the load using barbell weights and heavy steel plates. Many people wonder why glass can break from a light impact but withstand enormous weight. During an impact, force is concentrated on a small area. In my experiment, the load was distributed as evenly as possible and applied vertically as compression. Under these conditions, glass can withstand incredible loads. The jar finally broke at 955 kg (1,910 lbs)."
